ASCIGT is a joint venture between ASCI and Gelvenor Textiles of South Africa. Located in Durban the plant was established as a “cut and sew” operation in 2004 and by 2005 ASCIGT will be in serial production of side and passenger airbags with full local content. The plant itself has a floorspace of 2,000 m2 and employs over 60 workers. ASCIGT has the capabilities to produce all types of airbags and operates sophisticated laser cutting equipment that can also be used for all kinds of automotive interior trim.

* One Lectra Laser set up in October 2004
* Full time experienced ASCI management and Quality personnel
* Initial training of operators and key personnel during September/October 2004 at the ASCI facility in Germany
* 1st PPAP parts to be produced March 2005.
* 1st SOP is August 2005
