ISO-9001:2000

DIVISION OVERVIEW
Safety Components Fabric Technologies (SCFTI), is a leading North American producer of synthetic fabrics for a diverse array of technical and commercial coating applications.  With more than 375 trained associates and equipped with the latest in fabric formation technology, SCFTI has developed a reputation of product quality, product innovation, product diversity, and on-time delivery.  Fabrics in this division are produced for multiple coating applications ranging from highly technical aerospace products to commercial boat covers and truck tarps.  All products are produced and tested to customer specification.

SCFTI has invested in the latest state of the art equipment designed for maximum product flexibility, quality and competitive capability.  Recognizing that product flexibility is a requirement for success in the technical marketplace, SCFTI has the following equipment capability at its Greenville, South Carolina location.

EQUIPMENT CAPABILITY

  • Sectional warping—designed with the latest in tension control devices, SCFTI can warp both filament and spun yarns.  Sectional warping also provides the capability for shorter fabric production runs and the flexibility for yarns ranging from polypropylene to Kevlar.
  • Ratti twisting—Modern twisting provides the capability to design fabrics with improved tensile, tear, abrasion, air porosity and many other demanding physical property requirements.
  • Rapier weaving—The latest in rapier weaving provides the capability for shorter production runs with minimal machine downtime, high quality, and maximum fabric formation capability.  Fabric weights range from <1oz to >25 oz.
  • Fabric Finishing—SCFTI has  multiple finishing functions ranging from continuous and jig scouring, tenter heat setting, contact heat setting, calendering and slitting.  Topical finishing treatments are available including durable water repellent finishes, anti-wicking, fire retardants, to PVC, RFL, RFN and  PVB topical enhancements. Other finishes are available upon customer request.
  • Testing—All fabrics are tested to customer specifications.  See Laboratory services.
