LABORATORY OVERVIEW
The laboratory facility of Safety Components Fabric Technologies (SCFTI), maintains two separate conditioned physical testing laboratories and a separate area for chemical and performance testing. All laboratory and plant inspection, measuring and testing equipment is under calibration control with traceability to NIST or equivalent standards.
ACCREDITATION
The laboratory is accredited by A2LA against the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025.The SCFTI laboratory is the technical contact and is audited by UL for proficiency and competence to test fire service materials currently listed in the registration program against the requirements of NFPA 1971-2000.
The laboratory has a very comprehensive scope of accreditation using consensus methods from domestic and international standards. These include ASTM, AATCC, NFPA, ISO, DIN and JIS L-1096. Other mechanical tests may be evaluated upon demand.
SCFTI representatives serve as a voting member for A2LA; ASTM D-13, Committee on Textiles; AATCC and NFPA. The management participates as a senior member of these organizations and serves on the ANSI committee TAG 38 that maintains concurrence of domestic methods with the ISO group.
STAFF CAPABILITY
The Laboratory /Quality Assurance staff are available to assist customers with the proper selection of testing protocols and methods as well as quality systems development and laboratory training. The Laboratory and Quality Assurance Department has staff who are trained quality systems auditors against the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 9001-2000 and ISO/TS16949. Additional training against the ISO/IEC 16949 is planned.
The laboratory developed and participates in the ASTM sponsored semi-annual proficiency testing study for textiles. The SCFTI laboratory is accredited to perform or consult in standard testing. Please contact Bob Holcombe for your requirements.
